The Benefits Of Outdoors; The Comfort Of Indoors

A lot of people love the idea of spending more time outside in their garden. But, of course, the weather isn’t always in your favour here. And, sometimes, it’s nice to be away from the bugs and elements; while still being able to enjoy the sights and sounds. One of the best ways to achieve this sort of goal is through a conservatory. Most people have enough space in their garden for something small. And, this sort of extension is usually much cheaper than a normal one. So, it’s worth considering. To help you with this, this post will be going through a rough design process; so, you can get an idea of what you’ll have to do to have something like this.

The outside of this sort of structure is the best place to start; when you’re planning it. Most people will have a brick base for their conservatory which will go up to around a meter high. Above this, the rest of the walls will be made from glass in the form of large windows. This gives the conservatory its ability to soak up the sun. And, this is something you’ll want to preserve. When it comes to the roof, you have some choices. Some people will go for plastic panels which make the room even better at getting warm. But, others will want this part of their home to match the rest. For this, you’ll need an insulated conservatory roof, with regular tiles and features (we’ve actually just had one of these put on our conservatory, I’ll be posting about it on the blog soon, so keep an eye out). Most contractors will offer you all of these options and more.

Next, it’s time to think about the inside of this room. Decorating a room like this can be hard. Because of the glass, sunlight coming into the room will often be intensified. This can have an effect on the colour of flooring like carpet, wood, and laminated options. So, instead, it’s better to have stone or ceramic tiles in a room like this. For similar reasons, it’s best to avoid wallpaper which will peal in the heat. Paint should be used for the walls, with hangings to make it more interesting. You will probably want to invest in some blinds or curtains for this room, too. These sorts of options can be found from loads of different places.

Once you have everything planned, you can start to think about how you’d like to fill this room. Some people like to go for pure comfort and get sofas or something similar. But, others will want to make their room more functional. Having a dining table in a room like this gives you the chance to use the room for a variety of tasks. If you do work from home; this sort of room could serve as the perfect office. Or, if it doesn’t get too hot; you could even use it as a gym (Mark has his running machine in ours). The possibilities are endless; when it comes to a conservatory.

Hopefully, this will inspire you to get to work on your own slice of the outdoors. Most people don’t bother with this sort of effort. But, if you want to make sure that you have the best possible spaces to relax; sometimes to have to think outside the box.
