Something a Bit Fishy Going On Here…

From time to time, you’ll see the odd food post appear on the blog simply because Mark likes to cook and I like to share them with you. One of his latest experiments was with steamed smoked haddock and he did a cracking job.

To make this we used a silicone fish steamer that we found on a website called Qwerkity and to be fair, using the steamer made the whole process quite a lot easier…

To start we simply added the smoked haddock into the steamer with some milk and water before adding crushed garlic and parsley ensuring that the fish was pretty much covered in the liquid:

Then we popped the lid on and put it in the oven for around 30 minutes at 180 degrees (fan assisted oven):

Remember to check that the fish is hot before consuming. We probably cooked it for longer than necessary, but we needed to warm the liquid up first and you can never be too safe particularly where fish is concerned.

Once cooked, we teamed it up with some sweet potato mash and vegetables and had ourselves a rather tasty (and relatively healthy) dish!

On the box, it says the fish steamer can also be used to make soup and souffles too. Which may well be Mark’s next experiment! It can also be used to store food in the fridge or freezer, so it’s not all about the fish people!

Whilst on the Qwerkity website, we also ordered a milk topster, which I have to say is an awesome gadget (especially for someone as clumsy as me!). It may sound crazy, but it just makes milk so much easier to pour and stops it splashing all over the worktop, which I’m not going to lie, is something that I tend to do more often than not!  🙈

Seriously, if you’re looking for some kitchen gadgets, then check out, it sells unusual but very practical and funny stuff.
